Adidas Originals X Sporty & Rich Collaboration

Adidas Originals and the Los Angeles-based brand Sporty & Rich have teamed together to debut their first joint collection this season. The definitive collection features a number of upgraded twists on classic Adidas footwear and apparel designs that are inspired by the brand's core values of wellness and self-care. 

Since its founding by the multi-talented artist Emily Oberg, Sporty & Rich has led the way in developing a design philosophy that extends well beyond conventional aesthetics. The brand captures the attitude of a generation trying to cut through the confusion of modern life. It began as a mood board, evolved into a magazine, and a label, and eventually came to represent a whole way of life.

In order to convey a comprehensive message of contemporary rest and replenishment, Adidas Originals and Sporty & Rich's first-ever joint collection draws inspiration from classic sportswear references. 

A variety of well-studied revisions in unisex sizing to some of Trefoil's most recognizable archival shapes can be found in the clothing and footwear collection, which is steeped in classic norms. In keeping with the brand's philosophy, a white and collegiate burgundy colorway of the Stan Smith, a white and green redesign of the Samba OG, and a collegiate burgundy edition of the Campus 80s all have a Sporty & Rich pearl key ring.

Meanwhile, the joint womenswear collection is distinguished by a decidedly modern take on the classic Firebird Tracksuit that is heightened by various elements including metal zipper pulls with Adidas branding and co-branded embroidery. Each item is made from Sporty & Rich's trademark Beckenbauer Pique fabric and comes in two colorways: white with collegiate burgundy accents and green with white accents. The interior of each piece is printed with the brand's motivational wellness tagline.

But without a faithfully imagined campaign to movingly bring the items to life, it wouldn't be a Sporty & Rich collection. A scene that escapes our busy modern world and transports us back to a time of self-care and indulgence is depicted through the effortless graphics, which pay homage to the origins of the sport by fusing sporting tradition, luxury, and leisure. 

The first Adidas Originals x Sporty & Rich collection debuts on November 22nd and was created as an exercise in deliberate design.
