Glasgow-born artist, musician, producer, DJ and vocalist, Sophie Xeon, better known as SOPHIE, was found dead in her home in Athens, Greece. SOPHIE’s record label Transgressive shared the details of the ‘terrible accident.’

'Tragically, our beautiful Sophie passed away this morning after a terrible accident. True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell. She will always be here with us. The family thanks everyone for their love and support and request privacy at this devastating time.'

SOPHIE worked with Madonna as a co-producer of her single 'Bitch I’m Madonna.' The artist is also known for the collaborations with Charli XCX, Diplo and Camila Cabello. In 2018 SOPHIE’s debut album, Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides was released. It nominated for a Grammy in the best dance/electronic record category.

The musician preferred not to use gender pronouns, believing in the liberation of body, soul and spirit. In the 2017 music video for 'It’s Okay To Cry,' SOPHIE confirmed the transgender identity.

Many artists paid tribute to SOPHIE, including Christine and the Queens and Sam Smith.
