Saint Laurent Unveils its Largest Flagship on Champs-Élysées

A center of excellence in Florence.

POSTED BY ANDREI LUCAS

Saint Laurent has recently unveiled its largest flagship store to date on the prestigious Champs-Élysées in Paris, marking a significant milestone in the brand's storied history.

Opened on December 9th, the flagship is a testament to Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello's transformative vision over the years for the iconic fashion house.

Positioned on the renowned Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the flagship store transcends the traditional retail space, becoming a sanctuary for those who not only desire to emulate the Saint Laurent lifestyle but have included the brand's aesthetic into the fabric of their own lives.

Vaccarello's design seamlessly blends industrial elements with the signature chore Saint Laurent visuals, creating a dynamic environment that guides visitors through a journey into the heart of the brand’s universe.

The 123 Avenue des Champs-Élysées flagship is more than a mere retail space; it stands as a powerful statement for the brand’s legacy. Housing the complete offering for their fans and clients, from men's and women's ready-to-wear to handbags, shoes, accessories, and fine jewelry collections, the flagship solidifies Saint Laurent's enduring influence in the fashion scene.

Staying true to the brand's iconic aesthetic, the flagship store integrates the signature retro-chic Americana vibes, with a striking contrast of marble and mirrors that enhances the visual appeal. Vaccarello's homage to Yves Saint Laurent's wish to see his name in fiery letters on the Champs-Élysées is realized in an inscription as a bold tribute to the founder's legacy.

Beyond the mix of classic and contemporary elements, the flagship's design concept reinforces Saint Laurent's brand identity. Collaborating with artist Cerith Wyn Evans, Saint Laurent commissioned a neon light sculpture, adding avant-garde artistry to the space. Bespoke furniture pieces by Donald Judd, a black-lacquered wood staircase, and a private garden further contribute to the sensory experience that defines what Saint Laurent is as an aesthetic beyond branding.

Simultaneously, to continue its stellar end of the year, the house of Saint Laurent has embarked on a significant venture with the inauguration of a 'Centre of Excellence' in Scandicci, Florence. This center, dedicated to the design and manufacture of accessories and leather goods emphasizes the brand's commitment to craftsmanship and quality. With plans to employ 500 artisans and technicians, Saint Laurent is not merely expanding its production capabilities but shaping the narrative of luxury craftsmanship in the 21st century.

Francesca Bellettini, CEO of Saint Laurent, emphasizes the significance of the Centre of Excellence. L’Atelier Maroquinerie, as it is named, is not just a production facility but an environment designed for expertise-sharing, idea generation, and experimentation. The inclusion of a specialist school within the facility further demonstrates Saint Laurent's commitment to nurturing talent and ensuring the continuity of its legacy.

As the year concludes, Saint Laurent, under Anthony Vaccarello's leadership, continues to shape the landscape of high fashion. The recent fall 2023 collection showcased at the Eiffel Tower, described by Vogue as the epitome of elegance, exemplifies Vaccarello's transformative vision.

His ability to seamlessly blend his edginess with the brand's iconic sophisticated visual codes has propelled Saint Laurent into a bold and modern aesthetic, resonating with a dynamic and younger audience.

Both the new flagship on Champs-Élysées and the 'Centre of Excellence' in Florence signify more than expansions for Saint Laurent. They represent the brand's commitment to pushing boundaries, fostering craftsmanship, and staying true to the visionary spirit that has defined Saint Laurent for decades.
