Louis Vuitton presented the late Virgil Abloh’s final Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection in Miami on Tuesday. The runway show celebrated and payed tribute to the legendary fashion and cultural icon who passed away from cancer on November 28.

Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO, said in a statement, “As a devoted supporter of his community through his charities and passions, [Virgil] was an eternal optimist who believed anything was possible. In this same spirit, we at Louis Vuitton will proudly continue to celebrate his legacy with a final show in Miami, per his wishes.”

Many gathered in the secluded location, including celebrities like Kanye West, Kerwin Frost, Gunna, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and Kid Cudi (who walked in the show). The collection epitomized the dynamic creative touch of Abloh, featuring colorful gradient-hue jackets, monochromatic tailored suits, and oversized puffer hand gloves.

After the beautiful procession, the Louis Vuitton design team appeared to commemorate and say farewell to their dear friend and director. A clip of Virgil played over the applause and music saying, “Life is so short that you can’t even waste a day subscribing to what someone thinks you can do versus what you can do.”

The show concluded with a fireworks display that set light to the Miami skyline. The light show formed the initials of Abloh as well as a message reading, “Virgil was here.” The memorable event honored Abloh’s everlasting legacy that has and will continue to redefine the future of fashion, art, music, and culture.
