Kim Kardashian Wins The Fashion Icon Award At The People's Choice Awards
Kanye even received a surprise shoutout too.
The people have spoken! On Tuesday night, Kim Kardashian accepted the Fashion Icon Award at the People’s Choice Awards, and she attributed her success to some surprise shoutouts.
Receiving the award from Tracee Ellis Ross in an all-black Balenciaga outfit, Kardashian started her speech by telling the audience how humbled she was to be there.
“I mean, I started off as a closet organizer and a stylist. So the fact that I am winning a Fashion Icon Award, it's like a pinch-me moment," Kardashian said.
The OG fashion icon then went on to thank designers for even giving her a chance to work with them.
“Thank you, Zac Posen, who dressed me and took me to my first CFDA Awards, and so many amazing designers like Riccardo and Olivier that really believed in me. Well, probably [were] talked into it by getting a call from Kanye.”
Speaking of her infamous ex, Kardashian also thanked the rapper and musician for his influence.
“To Kanye for really introducing me to the fashion world,” she said. “I fell in love with fashion, and I’m so inspired by so many people. But again, this is like a dream that I get to wake up and wear these amazing clothes and try new things and take a risk. I’m so humbled.”
Rounding off the celebration, she posted a series of photos from the night, captioning the post, “I’m so humbled and honored and the people voted!!! Also special thank you to Demna and the Balenciaga team for a year of iconic looks … I meant to include in my speech last night but we ran out of time.”
