KAIMIN's High-Tech Fashion Takes a Stride Towards Digital Fashion

The relationship between fashion and technology is growing.

POSTED BY LILY EGLETON

KAIMIN is a female-led and high-tech fashion label based in New York City which delights in gender fluidity. With its non-conventional designs, KAIMIN has collaborated with BjorkMegan Thee StallionLady GagaBeyoncéBLACKPINK and other pop culture icons. With its avant-garde designs and influence from fetishist and queer fashion, KAIMIN is a unique and innovative brand. Its innovation has now delved into the digital world.

The brand has recently launched its first hybrid physical-digital clothing collection for Web3, titled the Science of Dreams. It was presented at the Samsung 837 flagship store in the Big Apple's Meatpacking district and on vSpace via. a high-concept virtual gallery.

This is one of the first Meta Couture Collections, with KAIMIN living between the physical and virtual worlds, embracing live VR performances and digital art for its in-person runways.

Unlimited by physical reality, Kaimin's Meta Couture has partnered with Samsung; GameStop; Polygon, and MoonPay. In addition, the brand has also launched augmented reality garments with Snapchat and metaverse wearables with Decentraland (a 3D virtual world browser where users can buy virtual plots of land as NFTs via the MANA cryptocurrency). Therefore, KAIMIN becomes more and more intertwined with the digital realm with every project of theirs.

This is an important shift in fashion, with immersive experiences and digital wearables allowing fans to interact with less-accessible high-fashion and high-tech designs via. Avatars.

KAIMIN's digital work begs the question: is fashion becoming more digital?

If KAIMIN's futuristic sexually-charged clubwear has been translated online, what's next? Will we be able to try on all the runway looks virtually? And does this, perhaps, make fashion more accessible to us? We can't wait to find out.

Up next, take a look at another up-and-coming fashion, with the Stranger Things X UNDERCOVER Hellfire Collection.
