“Image architect” Law Roach has become a superstar stylist, attaining fame for crafting the looks of women like Zendaya, Céline Dion, Bella Hadid, Kerry Washington, and more. Roach has become synonymous with pulling vintage looks from brand archives, gaining the attention of Hervé Léger after dressing Tiffany Haddish in a version of the brand’s iconic bandage dress. Hervé Léger tapped Roach to design a Resort 2023 collection, which debuted full of archival-inspired looks.

With inspiration from the Hervé Léger bodycon bandage dress throughout the ‘80s, ’90s, and ‘00s, Roach has developed 25 sleek and sexy pieces ready for supermodels to wear while strutting the runway. Body-hugging dresses in muted colors fill the collection, many with cutouts near the chest and hips. Standouts of the collaboration include an Alaïa-esque black catsuit and a black gown with a high slit and diamond cutout.

Roach first dove into the Hervé Léger archives in 2017 while styling Tyra Banks for America’s Next Top Model, according to a statement made to Women’s Wear Daily. Banks regularly walked the brand’s shows in the ‘90s and became associated with the designs, an image that Roach says inspired him to accept Hervé Léger’s invitation to collaborate.

To craft the collection, Roach analyzed Hervé Léger’s extensive archive and decided what would serve as his inspiration. The collection maintains the recognizable Hervé Léger look but updates the dresses through cutouts and fabric choices.
