The Future of Music Festivals Is Female

Get ready, Stockholm: the Ladieslovehiphop Festival 2022 will be hitting the streets this summer.

Across the music festival industry, male-dominated lineups are somehow still not a thing of the past. Especially in the hip-hop genre, where the impressive roster of rising female artists is growing daily, the lack of representation is impossible to ignore. That’s where Ladieslovehiphop Festival comes in.

Taking place in the Stockholm's Meatpacking District, the event will transform the area into a festival ground for the weekend, where the bill of performers will be located across three stages. Focusing on female elevation in the hip-hop, R&B, soul, and afropop industries, Ladieslovehiphop will combine live performances, DJ sets, and art exhibitions in an itinerant format that matches its shape-shifting genre representation.

Performers for this year’s festival include Stefflon Don, Arya Starr, Ivorian Doll, Baby Tate, and more. The women-led lineup emphasizes the festival’s initiative: to create a more diversified, equal, and celebratory global live music landscape. Where else can you spend a weekend raving away while also contributing to an important cultural evolution?

“It feels amazing to finally have a proper festival summer after these past two years. We have curated a line-up of artists and DJs that we truly love and believe our community are excited to see perform,” says festival co-founders Nataša Marijana and Rebecca Tegegne. “The festival presents both up and coming and internationally claimed headliners in hip-hop, R&B, afrobeats, and their sub genres. Together, we offer a great mix of everything in pop music right now for all the music lovers out there!”
