‘In Praise’ Exhibition Brings Female Muslim Artists To The Forefront
Leicester Exhibition Dedicated To Art By Muslim Women
An art exhibition launched in Leicester city center is dedicated to various mediums of art made by 10 Muslim women. Contemporary works including Arabic calligraphy, Islamic geography, embroidery, textiles, and abstract styles are all a part of the exhibit.
The exhibition titled ‘In Praise’ is defined by creators as “to glorify, exalt, adore, honor.” Exhibition curator and artist, Shazia Rashida Osman, explained “My vision is to break down barriers and normalize the celebration of such artists and their work by allowing them to access different audiences.”
"It is also to provide a space where the general public can engage with traditional and contemporary Islamic art, allowing them to learn more about this rich cultural form of expression," Osman went on.
‘In Praise’ will be held at Belvoir Art Gallery until Saturday.
