#1 Oatmeal and agave nectar face mask for irritated skin
One of the best natural ingredients for treating irritated, sensitive skin is oatmeal. Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties mean that it helps soothe dryness while absorbing excess oils. Used in combination with agave nectar, which is derived from an ancient plant known for its healing properties, it reduces irritation and calms sensitive and eczema-prone skin.
Directions:
Mix one tablespoon of oatmeal with one teaspoon of agave nectar and one teaspoon of water. Apply to a clean, dry face. Leave for ten minutes, then wash away with warm water.
#2 Tea tree oil and aloe vera gel face mask for acne and scarring
In this video, Nicoletta xo breaks down four DIY face mask recipes for acne-prone skin. All are effective ways of treating spots, but the tea tree oil and aloe vera mask stand out the most. While the antibacterial properties of the tea tree oil treat the root cause of spots, the aloe vera gel also soothes the skin and helps fade older acne scars.
Directions:
Combine one tablespoon of aloe vera with a drop of tea tree oil in a small bowl and apply the mixture to a clean, dry face. After ten minutes, wash the mask off. Don’t forget to moisturize.
#3 Avocado and agave nectar face mask for dull and dry skin
Combining avocados with agave nectar in this DIY mask is a great way to get your glow back after those long winter months. Avocados are naturally packed with skin-friendly vitamins and minerals that soothe and nourish, while the hydrating properties of agave nectar help to brighten dull and dry skin.
Directions:
Mash half an avocado in a small bowl, adding half a teaspoon of agave nectar. Slather the mixture onto a clean, dry face and let sit for fifteen to twenty minutes. Wash the mask off and pat your face dry with a clean towel.
#4 Papaya, turmeric and lemon face mask for an uneven skin tone
In this video, SweetPotatoSoul talks us through three DIY face mask recipes. The second mask she describes in the video is a papaya, turmeric and lemon mask that’s the perfect solution to uneven or acne-scarred skin. The enzymes in papaya help to remove dead skin cells and even out the skin, while turmeric reduces acne and lemon helps to remove dark scars.
Directions:
Mash 2 tablespoons of ripe papaya in a small bowl with a quarter of a teaspoon of turmeric powder and half a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Apply the mixture to a clean, dry face and rinse away after ten minutes.
