AMBUSH’S SS22 Collection Is All Things Nature

AMBUSH'S new collection is an adventure into the wilderness you don’t want to miss out on.

AMBUSH SS22's unisex collection is like a weekend in the mountains, where you will dive into nature's healing powers and reenergize. Yoon Ahn divided the collection into three categories: AMBUSH WKSP, AMBUSH ARTISANAL, and AMBUSH WARDROBE.

During the lockdowns we were forced to stop and given a chance to stare at our surroundings, allowing us to re-discover the places we live in. The same happened for designer Yoon Ahn, that developed the Spring/Summer 2022 collection from her Tokyo home, which was heavily inspired by the natural environment outside the fast-paced city.

AMBUSH WKSP base of technical fabrics is displayed through a series of vibrantly colored and abstractly adorned T-shirts, hoodies, cargo pants, and swimwear, for both men and women, that paired sand shades and lilac tones with nature-inspired psychedelic prints by graphic designer Hagihara Takuya. Yoon Ahn said: “I’ve been doing a lot of outdoor activities which got me thinking how I could bring reality to a daily wardrobe without making it mundane.”

In AMBUSH ARTISANAL textures are the key element, making couture everyday-wearable with flower-like hand looped jersey skirts, twisted knit wool dresses and crochet mesh knits with hand appliquéd flowers. A full bloom botanical garden, whose star was a sequin adorned landscape-like dress reminiscent of a field of wildflowers.

AMBUSH WARDROBE is the connecter between the previous two, highlighting the brand's core design of relaxed, comfortable tailoring. Pastel colors and earthy tones of grey and cream appear on soft linens, cotton, and washed nylons. Continuing the tradition of combining Japanese details with Italian silhouettes, the menswear pieces include a kimono suit jacket and belted blazer, while womenswear features leather vests and crop tops.

Footwear included high-heeled mules, trekking sandals, rubber boots, and leather sneakers. The accessories reminisced a walk through the park with flowers, butterflies, and mushrooms jewelry, and vivid yellow and red purses added color and playfulness to the collection.

Yoon Ahn has some prestigious achievements under her belt. Besides her label AMBUSH, she also creates jewelry for Dior Men, under Kim Jones.
