Which Aesthetic Combinations Work Together?
We're complex beings!
Nowadays, everything you see around you can be linked to an aesthetic if you try hard enough, but I feel far too multifaceted to sit neatly in one fashion category. I want to appreciate the frills of coquette, the Y2K rhinestones, and my no-nonsense jorts all at once. So I’ve found myself thinking about aesthetic combinations that actually work surprisingly well. Why limit yourself?
Coquette And Grunge

I’ve always loved the idea of looking like I might have written a love letter and then immediately gone to a rock concert. That’s exactly why dark coquette works so well for me — it combines the softness of lace, bows, and feminine details with the attitude of grunge.
The white garments pair perfectly with black embellishments and alternative silver jewellery. Think Lana Del Rey meets Taylor Momsen.
Boho And Twee

The boho and twee aesthetics saw some overlap in the 2010s, with Taylor Swift’s floppy sunhat era and Vanessa Hudgens’ blouse with a chunky belt being close to my favorite looks.
Vanessa leaned into loose, earthy boho styling, and when you combine that with Taylor’s polka dots and slightly “primary school teacher” twee, it becomes something romantic and feminine. I honestly can’t stop thinking about how much I want a floppy sunhat.
Y2K And Whimsical

Now this is a combination that always surprises me. The low-rise jeans, dresses over trousers and Juicy Couture of the 2000s came back with vigour, and I’m sure I can still smell Britney Spears’ perfume in the air.
At the same time, in 2026 we’ve seen whimsy take off, with everyone dressing in the loudest colours and quirkiest prints. Putting the two together feels slightly chaotic, but in a way I really like — skinny scarves, anyone?
Clean Girl And Smart Casual

As someone who is up at 8 with an iced coffee in hand and a non-negotiable checklist for the day, I like my style to reflect how put-together I feel.
If you’re like me, try merging clean girl — everyone’s favourite wellness-inspired minimalist aesthetic — with the business baddie energy of smart casual. In a tunic top or a cardigan over a button-up shirt, you’ll signal that you’re someone who gets things done.
Nautical And Tomboy

Now hear me out on this one. Between coastal grandmother chic and the sardine craze, looking to the sea for summer inspo will always be a safe bet.
But I also like leaning into the boyish look of fishermen — peasant tops, large boots, woolly hats, jorts or plaid boxers in warmer weather, even dungarees. The potential is endless.
