Top Podcast Recommendations for Females Figuring Out Their Twenties

Spoiler alert: none of us really know what we're meant to be doing!

POSTED BY EMILY BARKHAM

Calling all twenty-something year olds. Does anyone actually know what we’re supposed to be doing? Everyone always says that your 20’s are the best years of your life, that you should be alone and figure yourself out, make mistakes, misjudgements, more mistakes. That may be true, but it’s so hard not to feel lost in the whirlpool of expectations that society sets for us females. The best way to make sense of all of it, is to talk to other clueless 20-year-olds and laugh about how clueless we are, podcasts are essentially just that.

So here are my top podcast recommendations to help get you through your 20’s.

Call Her Daddy

The Call Her Daddy podcast is presented by Alex Cooper, who is truly taking over Spotify. With countless exclusive guest-stars such as Harry Jowsey and Mia Khalifa, this podcast is perfect for those who want to explore their sexual liberty and personal empowerment. Stripping back any taboos or judgments about sex, Call Her Daddy confidently redefines what it is to be a female and owning your sexuality.

The Girls Bathroom

Run by lifelong besties Sophia Tuxford and Cinzia Baylis-Zullo, known more commonly across the internet as Sophia & Cinzia, The Girls Bathroom podcast has all the answers to your romantic and friendly relationship problems. ‘Agony aunt’ in nature, these girls respond to email write-ins sent by their listeners needing advice on problematic relationship (or situashionship) issues. How long should I wait before I sleep with him?  Should I tell my bestie I don’t like her new boyfriend? The Girls Bathroom debunks all your 20-something relationship qualms. Not to mention…it’s fucking hilarious.

My Favorite Murder

The co-hosts of My Favorite Murder Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark bring much more to this podcast than just tales of gruesome deaths and chilling unsolved mysteries. The stories told in each episode are always accompanied with advice on jobs, mental health, addiction, family dynamics, friendships and more. These girls aren’t afraid of getting personal about the hard things, the real things. Which is why it’s an essential listen for you in your twenties.

Happy Place

Hosted by Fearne Cotton, the Happy Place podcast is as you might expect, a positive online environment. But Fearne definitely does not shy away from the realities of life, because it can’t always be easy, can it? With a star-studded guest list - the likes of Maisie Williams, James Bay, Sam Fender, Mary Berry and more - Fearne attempts to make sense of this funny thing we call life. Fearne and her guests are transparent about their highs and lows, showing how people of all ages, backgrounds and genders experience them. Which is why this is another vital podcast to listen to in your twenties.
