Why do women love true crime and all things scary? I think we can all agree, we need to know the worst possible outcome, so we can avoid it at all costs. It's like an addiction that we can't stop, we just can't look away. Serial killers, murder, missing persons, cold cases, haunted houses, paranormal encounters, aliens... We need all the deets pls.
So what's better than watching true crime documentaries? Yep, you bet, listening to a true crime podcast!!
Here are our top 4 women lead true crime podcast's, that will probably make you giggle, whilst they're telling you the darkest side of humanity.
RedHanded
First up we have RedHanded co-hosted by Hannah Maguire and Suruthi Bala. With over 200 episodes and additional bonus episodes, there is defo content for you to catch up on. Their British voices make you feel like everything is going to be okay, and we're here for it. Coming up in September their first book, "RedHanded: An Exploration of Criminals, Cannibals, Cults, and What Makes a Killer Tick" is set for release. So why not join the "Spooky Bitches" and plugin.
Morbid
Next, we've got Morbid co-hosted by lifetime besties Ash and Alaina! And yes, Morbid is 100% the right word to describe the stories they tell. But with their witty charm and phrases like "hold onto your butts", you feel instantly at ease despite them telling you all things creepy. A fan has even made a Morbid meme Instagram page that accompanies each podcast episode perfectly.
Crime Junkie
If you're a crime junkie, then you should be listening to Crime Junkie. Co-hosted by Ashley Flowers (who is the CEO of AudioChuck a women-focused network with other shows herself) and Brit Prawat, there are over 600 stories so far and they are by no means close to stopping. Best friends from day one, Ashley tells Brit a case that could surround murder, missing persons, and/or serial killers.
My Favorite Murder
Last but not least, we have My Favortie Murder, co-hosted by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. Not only does this podcast have episodes with the expected true crime gore, but they also have a vast amount of minisodes where they read out your near-death stories. But if the podcast isn't enough, they have a book named "Stay Sexy & Don't Get Murdered: The Definitive How-to Guide" which if you ask us, is the perfect title. As well as having a world tour for their true crime comedy shows, which can also be found on streaming platforms.
