Stunning Statements, Stunning Sights: Florence Pugh Opens for Harris Reed
A striking start to London Fashion Week 2025.
Harris Reed is a British-American fashion designer who, if not recognized for his designs, is responsible for the iconic image of Harry Styles in a dress on the cover of Vogue. The visionary Reed never fails to make a statement and thrives on pushing designs that arise from the conversation of gender fluidity.
The designer has made a striking start to London Fashion Week 2025 by inviting Florence Pugh to open his fall fashion catwalk. The Oscar-nominated actress appeared in a stunning outfit composed of a sharply-shaped, black corset and a sheer, black, hooded gown. The ensemble was finished with gold accents and accessories, paired with a natural face of makeup, bar the full and feathery faux lashes accompanied by eyeliner.
Pugh moved confidently around the runway as she performed a powerful dramatic monologue in which she exclaimed statements such as “be loud”, “be determined”, “be fearless”, and “be yourself”. She effectively used her theatrical talents to articulate Reed’s ongoing message — to be unapologetically yourself.
It’s not the first time these two artists have worked together. The movie star has been spotted wearing several Harris Reed designs on the red carpet. More significantly, Florence opened for Reed’s fall 2023 fashion show, delivering a monologue inspired by Shakespeare’s “All The World’s A Stage” on the power of costumes in shaping identity.
Similarly, Florence’s latest appearance spoke on the “transformative power” of clothing. She stated: “The art of dressing up allows us to express who we truly are, creating a safe space to inhabit in a sometimes judgmental world”. Her bold presence and gripping monologue achieved Reed’s intention of making his audience feel uncomfortable and encouraging them to reflect on their own identity.
The reoccurring collaborations between Reed and Pugh suggest there is more of them to come in the future of fashion. When we next see the two together, prepare to be dazzled with innovative designs, and expect the unexpected.
