Gender fluidity rose in influence due to the popularisation of androgeny among the genders. Its blurring of the male and female body broke the traditions and boundaries between menswear and womenswear. This has led to designers deconstructing silhouettes by bending the elements of tailoring cuts and fabrics traditionally associated with specific genders into hybrid styles.

What is the future of Gender-Fluid Fashion?

The future of gender-fluid fashion will be the rise of significance among men specifically. Designers like Alessandro Michele of Gucci and brands such as Telfar and JW Anderson have blurred the lines between traditional men's and women's wear, focusing on flowy fabrics, vibrant colors and accessories such as handbags and earrings. 

In an article by the Guardian, Alessandro Michele of Gucci stated that he didn't invent gender fluidity but rather voiced his own experiences through his designs. Bringing to light his connection to being between two genders. What I find interesting is that influencers from Instagram and TikTok have also begun their forms of this. Male influencers have slowly started using their platforms to bring to light the mix of the genders in their styles and have shown their forms of masculinity being reformed due to the rise in gender-fluidity.
