Selena Gomez covers the October Issue of Allure Magazine wearing a LaQuan Smith FW20 leather dress, Michael Schmidt floral headband, and German Kabirski earrings. The cover was shot by Micaiah Carter, styling by Arianne Phillips, hair by Marissa Marino, and makeup by Selena herself with the direction of her go-to makeup artist Hung Vanngo.

This past spring during quarantine fellow former Disney star Miley Cyrus hosted Instagram lives with celebrities to discuss topics that were important to them. Selena was a guest on Cyrus’s Instagram live and the two had an honest conversation about Selena’s bipolar diagnosis. Rather than shying away from it, Selena faced her fears by being informed and learning more about it.  "I wanted to know everything about it, and it took the fear away," she explained to Cyrus.

Selena is also mindful of her social media intake. She avoids reading comments but for promoting projects her team may post a tik tok here and there but not Selena herself. In case you didn't know Selena happens to be the most followed person on Instagram. With her platform, she has used it to give others a voice.  Through June Selena gave her Instagram away to be operated by many prominent leaders in the Black Lives Matter movement. Some of these leaders include the actor from HBO’s “Insecure” Kendrick Sampson, Activist, and rapper Michael Render, professionally known as Killer Mike, and author of “How To Be Antiracist”, Ibram X. Kendi.

Selena’s new makeup line, Rare Beauty is all about inclusion. The line includes foundation and concealer that comes in 48 different shades. Though many people were surprised when Selena announced that she would launch a makeup line, she has had this planned for two years.

"I had always wanted the name Rare. [The word] has become the identity of my brand and who I want to be, which is showing people that being diverse and different, whatever was happening, I wanted it to feel like you were included," Selena shared with Allure. For the Allure cover shoot, Selena followed safety measures and did her makeup and she used some of her very own Rare Beauty products.

Looking to buy products from Rare Beauty? It can be found at Sephora stores and online at the Sephora website.
