Rihanna Drops Wholesome Bop “Friend of Mine”

For smurfs movie soundtrack.

Pop royalty Rihanna is officially back in her blue era. She just dropped “Friend of Mine,” a brand-new single from the upcoming Smurfs movie—yes, you read that right—and it's as sweet, sparkly, and serotonin-laced as you’d hope. The track marks her second music release in the Smurfs universe, where she also stars as Smurfette. We’re calling it now: this is her Barbie moment.

“Friend of Mine” is a heart-glowing anthem about loyalty, magic, and the kind of friendships that stick even when evil wizards show up. It’s all lush vocals and cinematic feels, with that unmistakable Rih flair. This one’s clearly made for the kids and the adults crying in the back row with their $12 popcorn.

Rihanna as Smurfette? Iconic Behavior

Rihanna voices the lead in Smurfs, hitting theaters July 18th, and the film’s already shaping up to be a wild ride. Picture this: Papa Smurf (John Goodman) gets kidnapped by villainous spellcasters, and it’s up to Smurfette and her crew to rescue him IRL. With a stacked cast featuring Sandra Oh, Marshmello, Xolo Maridueña, Amy Sedaris, and basically everyone else who’s ever been cool, this reboot is anything but low-key.

Soundtrack Serving Star Power

“Friend of Mine” follows the earlier drop “Higher Love” by DESI TRILL, DJ Khaled, Cardi B, and more. Up next? A new track by Tyla. With Rihanna leading the lineup, this soundtrack is already sounding like the most unexpectedly fire playlist of the summer.
