Paris. London. Milan. Sydney?

That’s right; Australian fashion is making an impact worldwide. And Australian Fashion Week- the first in-person fashion week since Covid- showcased some of the country’s biggest brands and brightest newcomers. No matter where you live, you’ll want these labels on your radar.

Alice McCall

Founded in 2004, Alice McCall is already well established on the international fashion scene. The brand is known for its dreamy, feminine dresses that’ll take you from brunch to a night on the town.

But don’t take our word for it. Fans of Alice McCall include Katy Perry, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and none-other than Beyonce, who inspired record-breaking sales when she posed on Instagram wearing the label’s Senorita dress

They may not be a household name- yet. But COMMAS are one to watch if you hear the beach calling your name.

Inspired by the palette of Modernist painter Milton Avery, the National Designer of the Year winner features motifs of the Aussie bush and coastline on their hand-painted shirts and favors relaxed yet chic styles such as tailored linen.

Alex Perry

Founded in 1992, Alex Perry is a veteran of the Australian fashion scene. His dramatic gowns and evening wear collection have featured on Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Marie Claire and are a regular fixture on the red carpet.

Perry (who was born Alex Pertsinidis) also has an established career in the media. Showcasing his critical eye on the small screen, the iconic designer has appeared as a judge on Australia’s Next Top Model and Project Runway Australia.

Michael Lo Sordo

For evening wear you can have fun with, look no further than Michael Lo Sordo.

The designer’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection features daring midriff-bearing evening dresses, luxe satin and sequined women’s suits, and nineties-look leather.

Lo Sordo even has a bridal collection of unique gowns, separates, and trousers for the unconventional yet classic bride.

Ginger & Smart

This brand will have you feeling good about yourself for more than just its colorful boho style. Doing its part to minimize the worrying environmental impact of the textile industry, Ginger & Smart use eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton and uses waterless printing technology to reduce the wastage of water in the production process.

It’s also impressively versatile and features floaty maxi dresses and jumpsuits, evening wear, and workwear that flatter a range of body types. What’s not to love?
