Millie Bobby Brown Marries Jake Bongiovi
Officiated by Matthew Modine.
Millie Bobby Brown, the Stranger Things star, tied the knot with Jake Bongiovi in a private ceremony in May at Villa Cetinale, Italy. The wedding was a close-knit affair, attended by family and friends, including Jake’s parents, Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Bongiovi, as reported by People.
Adding a special touch to the event, Brown's former Stranger Things co-star Matthew Modine, who portrayed Dr. Martin Brenner (known as Papa) on the hit Netflix series, officiated the ceremony. “I wrote the wedding vows and they love what I wrote for them to join hands and become a husband and wife,” Modine shared with Access Hollywood in March, revealing that both the bride and groom thought it would be fitting for him to do the honors.
Modine and Brown have shared a close bond since meeting on the set of Stranger Things in 2015, when Brown was just 11 years old. Speaking about their connection, Brown once told Tudum in 2022, “Papa and Eleven have such an intimate relationship, so we needed to be able to bond to portray that. We meshed, and it was just a true, real friendship.” Their friendship has endured beyond the series, with Modine growing close to Brown’s family, often staying at their guest house and going on road trips together.
The newlyweds shared their first wedding photos on Instagram, with Brown captioning hers, “Forever and always, your wife,” while Bongiovi shared his own set of photos, writing, “Forever and always, your husband.”
The couple, who began dating in June 2021 and made their relationship Instagram official in November of that year, announced their engagement in April 2023. Days after the wedding, they were spotted in the Hamptons on a shopping trip, proudly wearing their wedding rings.
