Margaret Qualley's Barefoot Sandals Are Wild

If you saw anything about the London premiere for The Dog Stars the other day, chances are you saw the discourse surrounding Margaret Qualley's bizarre shoe choice. Black, Chanel, and barely-there.

The shoes only covered the heel, displaying most of Margaret's feet and black pedicure, and I was confused to say the least. It isn't the sort of brazen choice I could see catching on - I mean, in what world is half a shoe practical?

It reminded me of Lady Gaga's penchant for wild shoes, like her 2011 studded Noritaka Tatehanas, or, more recently, the purple platform boots she wore to the 30th anniversary of The Abbey in 2021. The latter was my favorite, because it was so reminiscent of the boots my Monster High dolls used to wear. Even her most outlandish and gravity-defying shoes hold that wacky, doll-like nostalgia.

The same can't be said for Margaret's sandals, but I suppose if there's ever a place for fashion risks, it's the red carpet.
