Kendall Jenner Has A Different Pair Of Headphones For Every Version Of Herself

Beats seems to agree.

POSTED BY ZOE TYLER

I have officially reached the point where I believe headphones count as an outfit accessory. Beats seems to agree. For the launch of its new Beats 360, the brand has put Kendall Jenner in a campaign where she meets several different versions of herself, each wearing a different configuration of the headphones. It is funny, a little surreal, and a pretty perfect way to sell a product that is basically asking you to accessorize your ears.

Your Headphones Are Getting a Wardrobe

The Beats 360 is the brand's first over-ear headphone with interchangeable ear and headband cushions.

The actual headphone comes in Black, Cloud, Pink, and Sky, while the Performance Knit cushion kits add Navy and Volt to the mix. There are also UltraPlush cushions in Black and Cloud if you want something softer and a little more classic.

So instead of buying a completely different pair when your mood changes, you can switch the cushions.

Which feels strangely obvious once you think about it.

Kendall Is Apparently Everyone Now

The campaign takes the customization idea and makes it extremely Kendall.

In the film, Jenner walks into a café and slowly realizes that everyone around her is another version of herself. There is Kendall working, Kendall taking a call, Kendall reading, Kendall wearing a completely different outfit and, naturally, a Kendall wearing a completely different Beats 360 configuration.

The café is even called Kendalls.

It's ridiculous in exactly the right way.

The campaign's idea is that you aren't one person doing one thing all day. You can be commuting Kendall, gym Kendall, airport Kendall, sitting-alone-with-your-headphones Kendall, and whatever other Kendall emerges when the playlist changes.

The Headphones Are Basically Jewelry Now

Over-ear headphones have spent years becoming increasingly visible as part of someone's look. The giant headphones you once tried to hide are now deliberately worn in public, especially while traveling, walking around the city, or going to the gym.

Beats 360 pushes that idea further by making the headphones changeable.

Black and Cloud can disappear into a minimal wardrobe. Pink and Sky make the headphones part of the outfit. Volt is for when subtlety has officially left the building.

Suddenly your headphones are doing some of the same work as your sneakers, watch, sunglasses, or bag.

But These Aren't Just Pretty Ears

The headphones feature active noise cancellation, Transparency mode, Adaptive EQ, and Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking. Beats says the new ANC provides up to 1.75 times more total noise cancellation than the Studio Pro.

They are also the first over-ear Beats headphones with an IPX4 sweat and water-resistance rating, so the Performance Knit cushions are designed with workouts and more active use in mind.

Battery life is rated at up to 32 hours, while a five-minute Fast Fuel charge can provide up to an hour of playback.

One Headphone, Several Personalities

Fashion has spent years telling us that personal style is about having a signature. But most people aren't one aesthetic all day, every day. You dress differently for a flight than you do for dinner. Your gym outfit is not your Sunday outfit. Your work brain is not your lying-on-the-bed-listening-to-the-same-album-for-three-hours brain.

Why should your headphones have to be the same?

The Beats 360 is basically making the accessory equivalent of changing your shoes.

I'm Taking the Green Ones

Beats 360 launched at $349.99, with the headphones available in Black, Cloud, Pink, and Sky. Additional Performance Knit and UltraPlush cushion kits can be purchased separately, with a limited-time introductory price of $9.99 for the cushion kits in select markets before the standard $49.99 price kicks in.

And yes, the entire campaign is basically an elaborate argument for owning multiple cushion colors.

Unfortunately for my bank account, it is a pretty convincing one.
