Chanel Launches ‘Clean’ Beauty Line: N°1 de Chanel
Packaged up with recyclable glass and an environmental ethos.
Freshly-launched, N°1 de Chanel is the company’s first environmentally-conscious line, appealing to ‘a new generation of beauty’ that takes into mind Gabrielle Chanel's 'holistic vision'.
The nine-part beauty range consists of skincare, makeup, and a fragrance mist. A red czar camellia flower is at the heart of their clean campaign, whose extract is said to have energetic and anti-aging properties.
The line promotes eco-responsibility in the form of reusable glass packaging, free of cellophane and paper leaflets, and printed with organic ink. They boast a lid ‘made with 90% bio-based materials’, and sell individual cream refills at a discounted price within the range.
Chanel’s products promise to be as kind to your skin as they are to the planet, with each formula containing ‘up to 97% naturally derived ingredients and up to 76% camellia-derived ingredients’.
One of the few flowers in the world that bloom during winter, the camellias are cultivated in an open-sky laboratory in southwest France, where their properties are researched in a region that replicates their native climate.
Amidst the current popularity of ‘clean’ beauty, Chanel hits the mark perfectly - in both senses of the term. I for one can’t wait to get my hands on their products.
