Loewe Debuts Surrealist Sunglasses

Johnathon Anderson’s making a case for inflatable eyewear.

POSTED BY PHOEBE COTTERELL

Loewe’s Creative Director, Johnathon Anderson, has made a name for himself with his quirky creations and in both Loewe and his eponymous brand’s (JW Anderson) most recent collections, the designer has been exploring surrealism. For the Loewe Fall/Winter 2022 womenswear show we saw models adorning lip-shaped breastplates, paper bag boots and balloon shoes. However, it wasn’t just the clothes that caught the eye with the Loewe inflatable sunglasses making their debut.

The inflatable eyewear is reminiscent of the JW Anderson ‘Bumper bag’ with its puffed-up and bouncy appearance. The sunglasses come in three fun iterations; Mask, Cateye and Rectangular. Each pair is available in minimalist black and white shades as well as vibrant primary colours of blue, red and yellow. The Rectangular frames play into the rise in the ’70s fashion we are currently seeing, whilst the Mask frames are daring and futuristic like something out of a sci-fi film. The Cateye is an iteration of the timelessly classic cat-eye frame.

The Sunglasses are available to buy now on the Loewe website.
