Grunge Meets Gothic Glam: Best Margot Robbie Outfits From Wuthering Heights Press Tour
Or how she managed to own every single one of her looks.
The long-awaited premiere of Wuthering Heights has finally taken place, dividing Emily Brontë's fans into two camps. Some are loving the new perspective on the classic story, while others aren’t really happy about the film’s departure from the novel. There’s one thing, however, everyone seems to agree on: Margot Robbie absolutely slayed her press tour wardrobe. Let’s take a look at some of her standout moments.
Years ago, when the iconic Barbie came out, we were convinced Robbie’s signature color was pink. Now I’m not so sure anymore. It feels like she was born to shine in rich red tones. First comes the neo-romantic leather dress, which is simply flawless. Not only does it highlight her hourglass silhouette, but it also introduces subtle grunge undertones with an echo of Victorian fashion.
The next dress is probably my favorite, as it channels pure Catherine Earnshaw energy, or what she would have worn if invited to a 21st-century ball. I love how the white satin contrasts with the deep burgundy palette, referencing the historical underlays women used to wear hundreds of years ago.
For several appearances, Margot leaned into a fusion of theatrical historicism with modern styling. One example is her John Galliano look from 1992. The long toile coat with its vintage print and shearling trim creates an aristocratic mood, while the short skirt paired with red hosiery adds some 90’s nostalgia.
Pale blue hues suit the actress beautifully, giving her a softer and more ethereal energy. I love how she styled the wrap-up skirt over trousers—a combination that reminds me of the 00’s red carpet looks at their peak. The rest of the details take us back to past eras, particularly the lustrous silk fabric with floral motifs and corseted silhouette. Did I say that Robbie’s signature color is red? Cause it might as well be black. She wore several looks in the dark shade, each worthy of praise. These two dresses are minimalistic, yet no less impressive. The first one stands out thanks to its leather texture, and the statement necklace with a big pendant complements the second one. I generally love the recurring use of chokers throughout the tour, as they complete her looks perfectly.
The final outfit gives major Victorian lingerie vibes with its Chantilly-style floral lace overlay and a semi-sheer finish. Honestly, Margot absolutely nailed it. She managed to get into the character and understand what Catherine would have worn if she had been born a few centuries later.
Once again, Margot Robbie has us all rethinking our wardrobes, tempting us to add more grunge and gothic styles. And, of course, my FizzyPicks are here to help you find the perfect Victorian-inspired pieces.
