How To Steal The Love Island Look

There's something about Love Island that makes it feel like its own little world. Maybe it's the fast-paced nature of the dating, the outlandish challenges, or the fact that the contestants are largely cut off from the outside world. What also helps is the specific breed of pop music—and, of course, the fashion.

When I think of Love Island, I think bodycon dresses, the neon looks from earlier seasons, and the pastel lace and asymmetry that reflect current trends. A standout moment for me from the newest UK season was Ellie’s sparkly pink maxi dress from Rat & Boa—I spent the whole episode nudging my boyfriend and saying, “LOOK at her dress!”

I don't often wear risqué looks, but I have to admit that the beautiful gowns with plunging necklines I've seen on Love Island have inspired me. I think that, as well as embracing current styles, Love Island does a great job of creating its own trends (going all the way back to the neon swimwear trend around 2017). 

If you want to dress like you just stepped into the villa, I’d say matching coords, bright colors, and cleavage-revealing maxis are staples at this point. But the best thing about Love Island fashion is that it gives people permission to be a little more dramatic with their outfits. Whether it’s a sparkly evening dress or a bold color combination you’d usually avoid, sometimes fashion is just about having fun.
