The Iconic Lipstick Shades of the Friends Cast

The one where we go behind the scenes.

POSTED BY GRACIE ROSE

Rachel Green, Monica Geller and Phoebe Buffay from Friends are undoubtably some of the leading characters representing iconic styles of the 90s. From the Rachel Green haircut phase that had the world in a chokehold for decades to come to the cast member’s renowned fashion over the ten years of filming. Many lovers of the show and the 90’s era have recreated some of their looks, but why not take that one step further and recreate their makeup to go alongside it?

The lead makeup artist of the franchise Robin Siegel has now revealed the exact lip products that Rachel, Monica and Phoebe wore on screen so you can get the look. Here’s what we learned:

Rachel Green

Jennifer Aniston spilled all the tea on her character’s signature lip look in an interview with Glamour magazine. Rachel rocked MAC’s classic lip pencil in the color ‘Spice’, topped with MAC’s Satin Lip Colour in the shade ‘Paramount’. Jen described the color as “a browny brick, and this universally flattering shade works on fair to deep skin tones and is still available to purchase here.

Monica Geller

Siegel credited MAC’s Lustreglass ‘Spice it Up’ as the lipstick that Courtney Cox wore on the set of Friends, which is a deep red shade with cranberry undertones.  This ‘Sheer-Shine’ lipstick has a sheer, buildable coverage with nourishing ingredients for that barely-there vibe that you can find here.

Phoebe Buffay

Unlike her co-stars rocking a 90s brown, Lisa Kudrow kept it light with a true nude shade that is unfortunately discontinued. However, fear not as Siegel remembered this shade being a close match to Charlotte Tillbury’s popular lipstick shade ‘Pillow Talk’ which some of you may already have in your collections anyway! But if not, you can check it out here.

Conclusion

Could we BE any faster at adding these shades to our carts? It’s time to go on a break from our everyday lip products and pivot towards these 90’s beauty staples.
