Chanel Enlists Royalty For Pre-Fall 2022 Campaign
Charlotte Casiraghi, Princess Grace of Monaco’s granddaughter, models the latest Chanel designs.
No person embodies the elegance of Chanel like Charlotte Casiraghi, the Monaco royal turned worldwide socialite. With style running in her family tree, as Princess Caroline's daughter and Grace Kelly's granddaughter, Casiraghi has become a fashion icon independent of her history. Named as a Chanel global ambassador in 2020, Casiraghi’s work with the legendary French fashion house has produced a pairing made in fashion heaven. Now, Casiraghi stars in Chanel’s Pre-Fall/Winter 2022/23 campaign and models Virginie Viard’s latest designs.
SMITH directed the campaign, including filtered photographs of Casiraghi seaside and a subsequent fashion film. A standout look is a black corduroy jacket with yellow accenting in the collar and cuffs, accessorized with a matching petite purse. Casiraghi also wears a traditional Chanel tweed suit in a modernized lime green color. Other garments include a 1980s-inspired Canadian tuxedo, leather bomber jacket, three-piece patterned suit, black velvet dress, and embellished shirtdress. Casiraghi looks luxurious yet laid-back, a factor that reflects the youthful direction of Viard’s Chanel.
“Virginie has known me since I was a child. It’s a natural complicity that doesn’t need explanation. When I discovered the collection, I found the things I like to wear every day and what I really feel comfortable in. There are a lot of jeans, shirts, fabrics with a certain depth like velvet… It’s important to be able to choose, to express something different depending on the moment,” said Casiraghi in a press release.
The Pre-Fall/Winter 2022/23 collection is available in stores now.
