Celebrities Who Completely Reinvented Their Aesthetics
They proved that experimenting with fashion can really pay off.
Finding your true aesthetic isn’t always easy. Sometimes you choose one look and stick to it not because it suits you best but simply because you’re already used to it and are afraid to try something new. This applies to celebrities as well, though I believe experimenting is much harder for them, since their fanbase is already attached to a certain image and doesn’t want to see change. Still, some famous people did a big rebrand, and it ended up working in their favor. Let’s take a look at some of the most memorable transformations.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus was one of the OGs who completely reinvented her style after her teenage years. She embraced a rebellious aesthetic with a short blonde haircut, bold stage costumes, and chaotic street fashion energy. Later, she slowly started reconnecting with her softer, Hannah Montana-coded side, opting for longer hair and more delicate, refined outfits. Now, her fashion blends old Hollywood glam with rock-n-roll vibes and a subtle hint of her Disney-era charm. Well, she really did find her way back home after all.

Dove Cameron
Back in 2021, Dove Cameron, known for her angelic look with blonde hair and soft makeup, had us all in complete shock with her dramatic transformation. She switched to dark hair, heavier makeup, and edgy, grunge-styled outfits. Since then, she’s been going back and forth between a dark vamp and an ethereal look, which seems like the perfect balance. This is one of those cases where I genuinely can’t make up my mind which aesthetic suits Dove the most, as she absolutely pulls both off.

Pamela Anderson
When talking about the most glamorous celebrities of the ‘90s, Pamela Anderson is among the first names that come to mind. Her voluminous hair, pencil-thin eyebrows, frosted eyeshadows, and California beach-girl outfits became a cultural reference. A couple of decades later, she slowly started moving towards simplicity and a more natural appearance. And even though the ‘90s Pamela will always remain iconic, I can’t help but love her new style and quiet rebellion against rigid beauty standards, proving that you can look just as striking without a full face of makeup.

Ariana Grande
Let me guess: the moment you read Ariana Grande’s name, you instantly pictured a high ponytail, thigh-high boots, and oversized sweatshirts, didn’t you? Well, sadly that ultra-glam era is long gone, which is honestly such a shame, at least for me. Now Ariana leans into quiet luxury and sophistication with hints of Glinda-inspired romanticism and vintage silhouettes. I wonder whether her fashion choices will evolve even further now that she’s releasing a new album after a two-year break.

Charli XCX
If you spent your teenage years endlessly scrolling Tumblr, you definitely remember Charli XCX as one of the ultimate grunge-girl inspirations. She used to wear ‘80s punk-inspired pieces, leather jackets, dark lipsticks, and chokers—basically anything that defined the Tumblr style at the time. These days, her style mixes a chaotic streetwear aesthetic with intentional messiness, including baggy tracksuits, corset tops, logo-heavy pieces, and loud colors. And somehow it works perfectly for her.

Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Carpenter’s evolution proves just how essential it is to find the style that feels most natural to you. Over the years, she’s been experimenting with different looks, mostly revolving around edgy street style, bright colors, and dramatic makeup. A few years ago, though, she fully embraced her flirty-femme self, leaning into a coquette image, heavily influenced by Marilyn Monroe. Finding her signature vibe helped Carpenter not just visually but career-wise as well. Her image finally feels fully recognizable and unmistakably hers.

Kelly Osbourne
And, of course, I couldn’t miss probably the most dramatic transformation in Hollywood. Back in the ‘00s, Kelly Osbourne was the ultimate goth inspiration with dark clothing, heavy makeup, vibrant hair colors, and rebellious punk energy. In 2020, she underwent a major weight loss transformation and shifted toward softer and more elegant looks along with more polished hair and makeup. Looking at her recent photos, it’s hard to recognize the punk princess she used to be. And while her current style definitely feels more refined, I can’t help feeling nostalgic for her old, edgy aesthetic.
