The Coordinating Outfits of Anne Hathaway, Florence Pugh, Ariana DeBose, and Hwasa at the Valentino Fashion Show in Rome

It’s giving me Barbie Girl in a Barbie World

Anne Hathaway, Florence Pugh, Ariana DeBose, Hwasa, and Anna Wintour had front row seats to the Valentino Couture Fashion Show in Rome at the Piazza di Spagna and they did not disappoint. When sitting beside Anna Wintour, all celebrities better be prepared to bring it and trust me: these ladies understood the assignment. Anne Hathaway, Ariana DeBose, Florence Pugh, and Hwasa were all wearing complementary hot pink Valentino dresses and matching patent platform stilettos.

Anna Wintour, per her usual, was the standout dresser, wearing an orange floral, ankle-length gown over white sandals. Beside her was Florence Pugh in her now-iconic, sheer, nipple-freeing, tulle dress that caused more than your basic stir on twitter. Pugh wasn’t taking it from the body-shamers, who felt the need to comment on how her breasts looked in the dress, so she wrote a lengthy condemnation on social media that had other celebrities, like Jean Rege-Page, and ladies everywhere, coming to her defense.

On the other side of Wintour, Academy Award Winner Ariana Debose wore a shoulder-baring mini dress, decked out in flowers, flaunting her killer legs and sporting a pixie cut. On Instagram, DeBose stated that this was her first ever Haute Couture experience, which could have fooled us in the way that she more than delivered with the bold, ruffly roses sewn throughout her dress.

Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway’s recent love affair with Valentino has been well-documented with her grabbing headlines by wearing the brand as often as she can, causing everyone to say “she’s wearing Valentino for Christ’s sake.” This time, Hathaway wore a sparkly, sequined, peplum dress, with a statement ruffle at the waistline, courtesy of Valentino, along with Valentino accessories. Hathaway did this wearing her hair down and showing off her fabulous legs as well, in an outfit that more than brought the glamour.

Hwasa, singer, rapper, and star of the girl group Mamamoo, also went the floral and sequined route with a high-necked dress and long neon stockings, that gave an elevated and elegant look to the whole affair. With her matching pink nails and perfectly coiffed hair, the K-pop idol looked radiant, giving fans exactly what they didn’t even know they wanted.

At the bottom of all of these ensembles came the shoes: thick heeled, magenta shoes that perfectly encapsulated the idea behind Barbie, as part of the new Barbie-core fashion movement. These knock-out dressers made a powerful statement by embracing femininity while in solidarity with one another. Many of us were left in awe of the power move these women were pulling, as they reclaimed the Barbie-girl look and advanced the notion of Barbie as a feminist icon. Each woman wore a gorgeous but individualistic look, making it a moment we will remember for years to come.
