KATSEYE’s Yoonchae Makes the Case For Keeping Beauty Simple

A little coverage, a lot less complication.

POSTED BY ANISSA GALVANI

The beauty industry loves a complicated routine. Ten steps, twelve serums, a new ingredient to memorize every other week. Somewhere along the way, looking after your skin started to sound like another full-time job. Yoonchae of KATSEYE is taking a slightly different message into her new partnership with Dr.Jart+: sometimes, a simpler approach is the one worth sticking with.

The Korean skincare brand has named Yoonchae its first-ever North American brand ambassador, making her the face of its latest Premium BB Cream campaign. It is a natural meeting of two sides of contemporary Korean beauty culture, bringing a K-pop artist together with a brand known for combining skincare and makeup.

A Little Coverage, A Lot Less Complication

At the center of the campaign is Dr.Jart+ Premium BB Cream SPF 30, a product that sits somewhere between complexion makeup and skincare. The formula has been updated with 2% niacinamide and glycerin, ingredients associated with supporting the skin barrier and hydration. It is designed to provide all-day coverage, SPF 30 protection and the natural, luminous finish often described as glass skin.

The appeal of BB cream has always been its ability to simplify the complexion routine. Rather than treating skincare and makeup as two completely separate activities, it brings several functions into one product. That idea feels particularly relevant now, when beauty routines can become crowded with products promising to solve increasingly specific problems.

I find the more relaxed side of beauty much more interesting than the pursuit of a perfectly constructed face. There is room for makeup to be expressive, but there is also something refreshing about a product that does not demand an elaborate routine around it. The goal does not always have to be transformation.

Yoonchae's Own Beauty Philosophy

In the campaign announcement, Yoonchae describes skincare as a form of self-care, explaining that she prefers a simple routine even when her schedule gets busy. It is a perspective that makes sense for a performer whose working life involves travel, performances and plenty of time in front of cameras.

The campaign takes a digital-first approach, with behind-the-scenes footage, user-generated content and a documentary-style video offering a glimpse into her routine. Rather than presenting beauty as an untouchable celebrity ritual, the concept connects the product to the everyday demands of maintaining a routine while working in entertainment.

Founded in Seoul in 2005, Dr.Jart+ has built its identity around the intersection of skincare science and creative expression. Its partnership with Yoonchae continues its collaborations with Korean artists, while giving the brand a new connection to KATSEYE's international audience.

Premium BB Cream SPF 30 is available in eight shades, priced at $49 for 40ml through Dr.Jart+, Amazon, TikTok Shop and Sephora online.

Yoonchae's appointment is a celebrity partnership, certainly, but the idea behind it is refreshingly uncomplicated: beauty does not need to become another exhausting checklist. Sometimes, a little coverage and a routine you can actually maintain are enough.
