Acne Studios x Kappa Collab: 90s Sportswear
With Tricky campaign.
Acne Studios is taking athleisure to the next level with its latest collaboration a 22-piece capsule collection with legendary Italian sportswear brand Kappa. Set to drop for Spring/Summer 2025, the collection is a seamless blend of technical sportswear and high-fashion sensibility, featuring football jerseys, second-skin layers, tracksuits, denim, sneakers, and an exclusive reimagining of Acne Studios' Bowlina bag.
Streetwear Meets Sport
“I have always loved Kappa. Rebels wear Kappa, which appeals to me – it’s sportswear for the cool kids,” says Jonny Johansson, Creative Director of Acne Studios. "In a world where the lines between classic workwear, streetwear, ready-to-wear, and sportswear are blurred, it feels totally natural for Acne Studios to collaborate with Kappa on a collection that represents a modern way of dressing.”
This capsule draws inspiration from vintage football kits, effortlessly merging classic athletic aesthetics with Acne Studios' signature silhouettes. Standout pieces include a flame-printed football jersey in Acne Studios’ iconic pink, featuring the Kappa and Acne Studios logos, denim and tracksuit pants with Kappa’s signature logo taping down the legs, second-skin T-shirts reminiscent of moisture-wicking base layers worn by footballers, the Bowlina bag, fresh off the SS25 runway, reworked with the flame motif and dual branding, and accessories like a logo baseball cap, knee-high socks, and sneakers inspired by vintage football kits.
A ’90s-Inspired Campaign Starring Tricky
The campaign brings the collection’s retro-meets-modern energy to life, starring British music legend Tricky, whose raw, enigmatic style perfectly embodies the collection’s attitude. Shot by Jordan Hemingway and styled by Léopold Duchemin, the campaign is a gritty, nostalgic nod to ’90s sportswear culture.
“Tricky’s music has had a real impact on my life. I’ve been a fan for a long time, and it just made sense to work with him for this project,” says Johansson.
“Great people really fun day. I usually get nervous in a room full of people I don’t know, but they made it feel like family,” adds Tricky.
