8 By YOOX Releases A New Summer Collection: “When People Dance”
The collection is “a hymn to being together.”
Since the world has started to open up again, color, bright patterns, and comfortable fabrics have been in style. 8 by YOOX’s Spring/Summer collection, “Where People Dance” combines all of these trends and creates a “hymn to being together.” The brand known for selling staples has created summer pieces that go above and beyond a basic look but are still versatile and classic.
The collection contains menswear and womenswear, both of which are composed of bold as well as muted colors, and structured yet comfortable pieces. The clothes have strong silhouettes, with bold embellishments like fringe, ruffles, and collars, yet they are made of lighter material, such as linen, jersey, and denim. All of these unique components combine to create a collection that is unique and fun, but still very wearable.
This collection is almost reminiscent of 60’s fashion, with the patterns and silhouettes, but it still manages to be one of the most modern collections that YOOX has put out. They used AI and data analysis to create this collection, drawing inspiration from trends that their consumers like. This led to the funky patterns, such as tie dye, floral, flaid, and zig zag. On-trend accessories, such as mule shoes, clog-like sandals, scrunchies, and statement earrings were also likely a result of the technology used to create the collection. As well, YOOX followed the “Design for Circular” process when making “Where People Dance”, a form of design which rethinks the entire creation of a garment in order to be more sustainable and protect the environment. YOOX Net-A-Porter Group created this process, and over 80% of the fabrics in this collection adhere to these rules.
The collection will fittingly have a pop-up at The Surf Lodge in Montauk on July 12-18. And until then, the collection is available to purchase on YOOX’s website.
