Where to Watch the 2021 Met Gala

Yes, you can be part of the action!

This year’s Met Gala, an annual fundraising event in New York City for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, will take place on Monday, September 13th after being postponed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

This year’s exhibit, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”, is an ode to American fashion designers’ responses to recent social justice and political movements in the USA and worldwide. Andrew Bolton, head curator of the Met’s Costume Institute, said to Vogue magazine, “I really do believe American fashion is undergoing a renaissance. I think young designers in particular are at the vanguard of discussions about diversity and inclusion, as well as sustainability and transparency, much more so than their European counterparts, maybe with the exception of the English designers.”

The formal dress code given to guests is “American Independence” which we can expect to be interpreted in many ways. Looks could range from flashy red, white, and blue ensembles to a more subtle celebration of American fashion designers. Often guests take cues from Bolton’s plans. This year will include classic fashion icons such as Ralph Lauren and Donna Karan in addition to highlighting contributions from designers of color and marginalized groups. In typical Met Gala fashion, expect plenty of unforgettable looks.

Vogue will be hosting the only official livestream of the event where you can join in all the red-carpet action as Keke Palmer and Ilana Glazer will be interviewing guests upon their arrival. To access the official livestream, check out Vogue’s article or watch via their Twitter at twitter.com/voguemagazine. The Met Gala livestream will begin at 5:30 pm EST on September 13.

Join in and expect to see this year’s young co-chairs including Timothée Chalamet, Billie Eilish, Naomi Osaka, and Amanda Gorman amongst the high-profile guests attending!
