The First-Ever Vans Skateboarding x Timberland Collab

The brainchild boot of Vans and Timberland.

POSTED BY KHALED ALAMEH

It was 1992, when a new Van’s shoe by the name of the Half Cab stepped onto the skater scene, and is celebrating the anniversary of its release three decades later. What better way to do that than to get a whole modern makeover by merging forces with the likes of an uptown 1988 Timberland Euro Hiker.

This unprecedented Vans Skateboarding x Timberland collaboration has resulted in an original skate-hiker boot species, providing consumers with versatile functionality.

The Euro Hiker answers the call for an outdoor nature adventure with earthy colorways that camouflage super well with the environment it was designed for, and the hybrid Half Cab Hikers ($160 USD) encompass the same narrative, but are taken up a notch with metal eyelets and a two-tone round boot lace.

The details of each pair include a combination of canvas, Timberland leather, padded leather collars, rubber lug outsoles, co-branded tattooing, and ReBOTL lining made from 50% recycled plastic. Both boots come in Wheat and Chocolate/Olive colorways.

Standing by the Half Cab Hikers side is a fresh version of Timberland’s Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boots, the Vans Skateboarding x Timberland 6-Inch Boot ($230 USD). It comes in black, and is immediately identifiable with the uptown brand, but is also stamped with the signature Van’s checkered print.

Both the brands view this collaboration as a ‘meet in the middle moment, where that narrative remained continuous through the location of the photo shoot, which occurred in Nebraska-right in between Van’s HQ in California and Timberland’s New Hampshire operations territory.

The shoot was done by celebrity photographer Cian Moore and included a union of local and professional models, including Phil Burcher, the owner of Precision Skateboards in Omaha.

The Vans Skateboarding x Timberland collaboration drops less than a week away on December 20 at Vans.com and Timberland.com, just in time to add these boots to your Christmas shopping list!
