The Clean Beauty Bible

This week, skincare!

POSTED BY GABY CRUZ

Welcome back to the Clean Beauty Bible, this week; skincare! There is this stigma surrounding the skincare world – that simply because it is taking care of your skin, its clean. Unfortunately, the rumors are not true; pretty packaging and a claim to ‘deeply nourish’ does not equal clean ingredients. Today, however, we are here to show you some of the best skincare products that ARE clean, that you will absolutely need to pick up on your next trip to the store.

Ahh Biossance, a revolutionary brand in itself, curated possibly the best must-have sunscreen on the market. Biossance created their own formula of Squalene – an animal by-product that harms millions of sharks a year – which they coined Squalane; a pure sugarcane derivative that achieves the same amazing outcome. This ingredient is used in every single one of their products, including their Squalene + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen.

This product contains SPF 30 and provides a powerfully sheer and deeply moisturizing finish. It is lightweight, universally beneficial for all skin types, and perfect for the sensitive skin lovelies. Sunscreen is one of the most – if not the most – crucial steps in a skincare routine; protecting skin from harmful UV rays that cause premature aging in the skin, sunspots, age spots, and fine line & wrinkles. Even if an entire routine is not for you, this product definitely should be.

Man, oh man do I have a lot to say about this product. For me personally? A total game changer. Having oily to combination skin, this cleanser was the first to give me that fresh, clean feeling ALL. DAY. LONG. The formula of this stuff; exactly as the name describes it – a lightweight, whipped, mint-green cream that suds up to a nice silky foam. A little truly goes a long way with this product, so you’re really getting your money’s worth.

What makes this product stand out in a ginormous sea of facial cleansers? It contains two ingredients that allow for the upmost purification and brightening of the skin: moringa and papaya. Papaya has definitely been getting its fair-share of stardom in the skincare world recently – it provides a micro exfoliating factor that leaves the skin looking smooth and bright as ever. The star of the show though? Moringa! The moringa in this product allows is to fully remove any dirt or impurities from deep within the pores – making it last all day.

This little tree provides the ultimate form of refinement; its purifying powers are so strong, that even in some countries the Moringa powder is used to clean dirty water for drinking – wouldn’t you want your face to be THAT clean?

Herbivore Bakuchiol Retinol Alternative Smoothing Serum

Now this is definitely a brand that proves us wrong when we say pretty packaging does not equal pretty – clean – products. Contained in a sleek glass bottle, this Bakuchiol has a radiant purple appearance that makes this product aesthetically pleasing enough to keep on display. A little bit on the pricier side, but SO worth it! Of the tons and tons of serums I have used or tried or sampled, this is by far the smoothest and most refreshing. Retinol is a great ingredient for those looking to chemically diminish fine lines & wrinkles, texturized skin, or uneven skin tone.

Bakuchiol (buh-koo-chee-all) – I still struggle to say this – is a retinol alternative that achieves the same goals as retinol, only less harmful because it is a natural ingredient. Bakuchiol is the perfect alternative for those with sensitive skin, and its non-drying, oil-free formula, makes this product great for any and every skin type. Indulge in the power of natural botanicals as you grant your skin the wish of radiance, hydration, and smoothness.
