Robot Baby Schiaparelli: The Star Of Haute Couture
The baby who stole the show.
With Paris spring haute couture week well underway, Schiaparelli started the week with a bang, or should we say a bleep? There was one real star of the show, and no, I’m not talking about the models; I’m referring to baby Schiaparelli- the robot.
During the show, model Maggie Maurer showcased the robot baby as she walked the runway with it on her hip. The baby was a mix of Swarovski crystals and recycled electronic parts such as PC microchips and wires. The tiny bedazzled figure was inspired by the “Alien” movies. Designer Daniel Roseberry told WWD that he merged his memories for inspiration in an age of AI - generated remix of his collections.
Last year, the brand hit the headlines after their haute couture show, which featured a faux taxidermy lion head. This time, it’s hitting them for the futuristic combined with a prehistoric technology-based outfit that model Hana Soukupova wore and the robot baby, of course!
All that’s left to say is that the French fashion house knows how to put on a show and get people talking. It’s a show that has you on the edge of your seat in awe of the talent, creativity, and perfect craftsmanship. We can’t wait to see what Schiaparelli has in store for us next year!
