Rihanna's Grills Shine Bright Like A Diamond
Ye's got nuthin' on RiRi.
Rihanna has once again set the bar high with her latest accessory choice—a full set of grills. This bold move, featured in her recent Interview magazine cover shoot, is not just a nod to the past but a reinvention of it. The grills, inspired by the formidable James Bond antagonist Jaws, are the creation of New York City-based jeweler Gabby Elan.
Despite their seemingly simple appearance, these pieces are a complex feat of design. "They're kind of a jigsaw style on the teeth and the real trick was getting the bite aligned properly within the gold," says Elan Pinhasov, creative director of Gabby Elan. The grills had to be meticulously crafted to align correctly when the mouth is closed, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and comfort.
Pinhasov faced the unique challenge of adapting an element associated with a "gigantic and creepy" character to complement Rihanna's renowned fashion and beauty influence. This fusion of cinema and style not only pays homage to an iconic figure but also showcases Rihanna's and Elan's ability to transform the unconventional into the ultrachic.
