Reformation’s Shoe Line Is Back

Get ready to lower the carbon footprint of your footprint.

We recycle, opt for sustainable beauty products, and love environmentally-conscious clothing companies. But, while you’re walking around our favorite planet do you know how earth-unfriendly your footwear is? According to a Qantis International report from 2018, footwear accounts for between 16 and 32 percent of the global fashion industry’s total pollution. Yikes. Like us, you’re probably thinking “Great-- one more way I have to get greener.” But, have no fear-- one of our fave sustainable fashion brands is here with the eco-friendly footwear fix we need.

Reformation’s shoe line, Ref Shoes, was first introduced in 2019 before being pulled for a major revamp. It’s officially ready for its big return. Reformation’s Footwear Design and Merchandising Director, Joni Pangsaeng, told Observer,  “For our relaunch, we went back to the drawing board to ensure we were making our shoes more sustainable and transparent than ever before.”

The brand is releasing 18 styles that are all over the map and offered in sizes 5-11. According to Pangsaeng, “Our new shoe collection allows our customers to both be sustainable and look cute, without sacrificing one for the other. Aesthetically, we were really driven by ’90s-inspired strappy silhouettes and ruching details that can pair well with the rest of our vintage-inspired designs.”

As advertised on their website, “on average, a pair of Ref Shoes emits 37% less carbon dioxide, uses 58% less water, and results in 100% less waste compared to conventional footwear.”

For shoes that will leave everyone (including Mother Earth, herself) saying “those are so cute-- where’d you get them?!” check out Reformation’s website here.
