Ralph Lauren Encapsulates Tradition In The “Polo Originals” Collection

In Polo Ralph Lauren’s latest menswear collection, the brand goes back to their roots and creates a line inspired by the classic nature of the label’s beginnings. The collection took the merging of collegiate prep styles, classic sportswear and refined outerwear and assembled a wardrobe suited for the modern day gentleman. “Polo Originals” incorporated some of Lauren’s most timeless pieces and elevated them with a contemporary twist.

Cue the Iconic Cricket Sweater, which was first introduced in 1972 and has been updated with the cashmere-infused cotton fabrication while still maintaining the classic characteristics of the original version. Or recall Lauren’s classic Down Parka which is being newly iterated with the use of British Millerain oilcloth—an ode to this waxed cotton’s long history in British textile production stemming from the 1800s. 

Through this collection, the American lifestyle brand has created a new era of the 21rst century gentlemen. The sleek silhouettes are honored through tailored designs such as the Glen Plaid Shetland Sporting Jacket and the Polo Soft Wool-Blend Topcoat. The collection is reminiscent of a time when formal wear was uniform attire, and with items such as the Polo Wool Flannel 3-Piece Suit, this idea of proper vestment has found a way to live on in the wardrobe of this current generation.
