Pradias Returns.

POSTED BY CIARÀN HOWLEY

Italian luxury fashion house Prada and German brand Adidas Originals are teaming up yet again for a brand new collection, set for launch in January 2022. This time with a new twist on the Adidas staple, the Forum High and Low.

Glimpses of the fabled collab first emerged in a story posted by A$AP Rocky in September of last year, however yesterday’s announcement marks the official confirmation of the team-up.

The new lines from the capsule collection sport the shoe’s trademark black and white block coloring with upcycled nylon uppers. Prada’s influence comes in the form of a small black pouch that can be attached to both the tongue and the side of the shoe. Better yet, it incorporates Prada’s Re-Nylon material, an upcycling initiative launched by the brand in 2019.

What works about this collaboration is its ability to give fans the best of both worlds. Prada’s more minimalistic sensibilities complement the bold statement pieces Adidas are known for producing with each sneaker. Joint releases are becoming a recurring fixture in-store and even on the runway, following Versace and Fendi’s ‘Swap’ for Milan Fashion Week last year. Designers are tearing up the fashion rulebook to give us the unthinkable.

Pradidas’ first endeavours came in the form of the ‘Superstar’ in 2020 and the ‘Luna Rossa’ in 2021, but this time an entire new apparel line has been enlisted alongside the sneaker centerpiece. In an interview with Hypebeast, head of collaborative design at Adidas Stefano Pierre Beruschi elaborated on the thought process behind the new lines.

“Once we had made the decision to use Prada’s Re-Nylon textile as a focal point for the Forum silhouette, it naturally followed for us to expand the project into apparel and accessories. With the versatility of this material, we crafted a high-density capsule collection, unified by material, color, and by the DNA of both brands – merging the height of Luxury and the 3 Stripes.”

‘Pradidas 3’ launches January 13th. Check out the collection above.
