Natural Alternatives to Aerosol Deodorant

Smelling cute AND saving the planet.

POSTED BY SOPHIE NORTON

There are a whole bunch of benefits to using natural deodorants. We’ve made a list:

1. Kinder to the Environment

Natural deodorants will typically come in sustainable or eco-friendly packaging, meaning less waste!

2. Aluminium-Free

Aluminium is an ingredient in most aerosol deodorants, which acts to clock your pores, meaning you sweat less. It may work fine as a short-term solution, but bacteria buildup could leave you smellier in the long run!

3. Health Benefits

Lots of natural deodorants on the market contain more essential oils and less additive chemicals than the average aerosol, which is especially great for those of us who have sensitive skin and are prone to irritation.

4. Save Money

Natural deodorants tend to last longer due to their nature, and so you end up getting more bang for your buck. You’re also able to get hold of subscription schemes with refillable ones, like the range at Wild, which has loads of gorgeous-smelling refills to choose from, and customizable cases to load them into!

Types of natural deodorant vary, and include Crystal Deodorants, Deodorant Creams, and even Powdered Deodorant.

Another alternative is to simply not use any… Lizzo admitted to not using deodorant anymore on Instagram: “I stopped using deodorant and I smell BETTER”. If the queen of music herself doesn’t need deodorant, then neither do you!

There are scientifically-backed studies to show that using deodorant of any kind can alter your natural bacteria, causing you to sweat the same amount but smell worse because the deodorant no longer targets the odor correctly.

I’ll leave you with that as some food for thought…
