MAGLY Confronts Deepest Fears In New Single "They Turn Into Ghosts"

Danish singer-songwriter MAGLY is kicking off 2025 with her stormy and emotionally charged new single, ‘They Turn Into Ghosts,’ out now. Known for her grand, soul-baring pop universe, MAGLY tackles her deepest fear on this track: the thought of losing her closest friends and family.

"My biggest fear is that my closest friends and family might suddenly leave me," MAGLY shares. "Unfortunately, this has happened a few times when insecurity and anxiety took over, and I ended up pushing away the ones who only wanted to help."

In her signature style, MAGLY transforms raw vulnerability into captivating music. ‘They Turn Into Ghosts’ reflects the paradox of yearning for connection while pushing loved ones away in moments of darkness. "I’ve always been open and honest with those around me, especially during tough times," she explains. "But at some point, I felt I was dragging them down. I pretended I was fine when, deep down, I desperately wanted them to stay."

Born Ditte Bissenbacker, MAGLY began her journey on the island of Funen, Denmark, learning piano as a child before refining her songwriting skills at Norway’s prestigious Limpi Music School. There, she met Swedish producer Oskar Karlström and English songwriter Lily Williams, with whom she co-wrote ‘They Turn Into Ghosts.’ The track was later produced by Danish talents Andreas Sommer and Lasse Baunkilde, known for their work with some of Scandinavia’s biggest artists.

MAGLY made her mark in 2023 with hits like ‘Convenience’ and ‘I Don’t Feel Fine,’ earning praise from Nordic artists such as Jada and Drew Sycamore, who invited her on tour. After a one-year hiatus, she returned in late 2024 with the single ‘Honesty,’ premiering on Danish national radio P3 and gaining international attention from outlets like Peaches 'n' POP and Broken 8 Records.

With ‘They Turn Into Ghosts,’ MAGLY sets the stage for an exciting year ahead, promising even more deeply personal and emotionally resonant music in 2025.
