Lady Gaga Set To Portray Harley Quinn In Joker Sequel
The countdown begins, Little Monsters.
It has been a glorious week for all Little Monsters worldwide as Lady Gaga officially confirmed that she will be portraying Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel titled Joker: Folie à Deux. This confirmation by Gaga follows several weeks of speculation that she had been offered the coveted role of Joker’s love interest, however no confirmation had yet taken place.
Last week on August 4, Gaga posted a cryptic teaser for the film via social media, and it not just set the internet on fire, but especially the expansive Gaga fandom. This will be Gaga’s third major film where she will be playing a lead, following her previous two films House of Gucci in (2021) and A Star is Born (2018), the latter garnering her an Oscar nomination for lead actress and a win for Best Original Song. Clearly, the pop icon hasn’t had a difficult time transitioning into the film industry.
On top of that, Joker: Folie à Deux is already off to a great start based on the success of its predecessor, Joker (2019). The film went on to earn over $1 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. With Joaquin Phoenix reprising his Oscar-winning role as Joker and Gaga joining alongside him as the electrifying Harley Quinn, the hype for the sequel is already sky high.
Despite the anticipation, fans will have to wait a little over 2 years as the release date for the film is set for October 4, 2024. Filming is set to take place soon as the script is already finished.
