Keke Palmer Speaks For Anyone Who Has Adult Acne With This Post
Let the plastic surgeons of the world hear Ms. Palmer's message.
Having a crop of pimples pop up the night before picture day is a hallmark of adolescence. Eventually, we learn to cringe and laugh at those former-self photos, rejoicing in the clear skin that accompanies adulthood. But for those of us who grapple with adult acne, uneven skin can be a great source of insecurity.
In another celebrities-are-just-like-us moment, Keke Palmer got candid about her own adult-acne struggles. The Nope star took to Instagram to quip about a gap in the cosmetic surgery industry.
“Plastic surgeons are amazing,” she said. “They can give you a boob job, above the muscle, under the muscle, liposuction, tummy tuck, BBL, they can even implant muscles…But they cannot,” she said, zooming in the camera, “figure out how to clear up somebody’s skin?”
Palmer jokingly added that after all of the cosmetic inventions we’ve seen, “you can’t figure out how to take the beautiful skin from my ass and put it on my face?”
Palmer’s genuineness resonated with fans, and the post has already garnered over four hundred thousand likes. But this isn’t the first time the actress shared her skin struggles online. In an Instagram post from December 2020, Palmer told her followers that Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome “has been attacking me from the inside out my entire life.” Her acne (which is a symptom of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) would not subside, despite her being on Accutane twice, and attempting to do all the “right” things. Keke concluded the post with the same positivity and honesty she carries with her today: “I’m not afraid to show myself to the world and you shouldn’t be either.”
