A Bloomberg report on the next generation of iPhones suggests that devices will not feature the electronic fingerprint recognition feature touch ID that was initially designed and released by the tech giant.

“The company has tested an in-display fingerprint scanner for this year’s devices, however that feature will likely not appear on this generation,” Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman and Debby Wu stated in the report.

Other sources suggest that the iPhone 13 might come without any physical buttons whatsoever. The tech company is researching "capacitive sensing input devices", which are "invisible backlit holes" that appear when touched and disappear when they are not being used.

Users can further look forward to camera upgrades including  advanced video recording features and improved optical zoom. The front-facing camera will most likely be reduced and the face unlock sensor will be removed due to issues users have experienced when wearing masks during the pandemic.

"In the world of consumer devices, and particularly consumer electronics, there is an ever-present demand for improved appearance, improved functionality, and improved aesthetics," Apple has told Apple Insider
