The US election is something you can’t ignore this week, from social media to the news it’s everywhere. With Joe Biden comes the new First Lady Jill Biden, but who exactly is she?
Becoming the First Lady carries many responsibilities and Jill Biden is more than qualified for the job. Biden is a long time educator, and will keep her job in January 2021 when Joe Biden takes office. This will be the first time a First Lady has had a paying job whilst living in the white house. When she was the Second Lady Biden stated ‘If we get to the White House I’m going to continue to teach. It’s important, and I want people to value teachers and know their contributions.’ Biden has two masters degrees in English and a doctorate education from the University of Delaware – so that’s Dr Biden to you!
Interestingly, Biden originally wanted to work in fashion. She attended a community college in Pennsylvania with the intention to study fashion merchandising, however this didn’t turn out to be her thing. Biden took a year off to do modeling work after switching to the University of Delaware, this is where Joe first saw her – in an advertisement!
