Grimes Gives Updates On Her New ‘Space Opera’ Album
The singer says the album will be about a lesbian AI being.
Grimes has been insanely active recently. From appearing in Doja Cat’s music video for Need to Know to taking to TikTok to suggest a proposition for the communists, Grimes is everywhere. But this week the singer posted a selfie on Instagram and replied to fan’s comments about her upcoming album.
Captioned “There’s a lot more to lose when U aren’t dead inside”, the selfie showed Grimes with pink hair and fangs. One fan commented on the post asking about the “vibez” of the singer’s new album. Grimes gave a lengthy response saying that it is a “space opera about Claire De Lune - an artificial courtesan who was implanted in a simulation that is a memory of the AI creation story on earth from the brain of the engineer who invented AI.”
She went on to mention that another AI enters the story called “DARK MATTER”. DARK MATTER and Le Lune enter a lesbian relationship as they are the only fully AI beings in the universe.
Fans also asked the singer about when the album was coming out to which she replied, “It’s on my computer.”
Last month Grimes teased a song on Twitter believed to be taken from the upcoming album. The song, entitled Shinigami Eyes, references the Japanese manga Death Note and may be a reoccurring theme within her new album.
Despite the lack of information about Grime’s upcoming album, we can be sure that it will an interesting listen.

“it’s a space opera about Claire De Lune - an artificial courtesan who was implanted in a simulation that is a memory of the AI creation story on earth from the brain of the engineer who invented AI because he wants to re live his life but see if his perfect dream girl could teach him to love and thereby he would preserve humanity this time rather than let them fade into obscurity - overcome by the machines. As she slowly realizes she is essentially a dancing puppet for the male gaze tho, their relationship grows complex. Simultaneously - “NO ONE” (the most powerful super intelligence in the future where the simulation Is being rendered from) realizes there’s a massive hyper-realistic sim running and sends in her troll AI puppets to wreak havoc. DARK MATTER - her lead ai demon - enters basically as the ‘black swan’ to Claire de lune - but in the end they fall into a lesbian romance due to the fact that they are the only two fully Ai beings in this universe It goes on but that’s where the first part of the story stops.”
