Giorgio Armani Fall 2024 Couture: Pearls and the Past

Adorn a collection that is a testament to Armani's brilliance.

Giorgio Armani dazzled once again with their Fall/Winter 2024 Couture show in Paris. In a collection that is a testament to Armani's brilliance, the label took supersized pearls and placed them on clothing such as long maxi gowns and trimmed sheer suit jackets alongside accessories to match.

Couture centers on opulent decadence you cannot get elsewhere and so the pearl was at the forefront of this collection. Celebrated was its language, history, and meaning across cultures. Trust us when we say you will want to do further research after seeing the embellishments on garments your wardrobe is crying out for.

With this, Armani took the pearl's meaning and keen association with the moon, water, wisdom, purity, and love and turned it into wearable art.

The show notes read, “Sensing a widespread need for serenity and constantly seeking a calm and intimate quality, Giorgio Armani builds his entire collection and accompanying narrative with pearls this season."

89 looks adorned the runway to match Armani's age. Each look ranged from a neutral color palette with black, gold, and taupes dominating alongside a focus on ornamentation. A standout was the pearl-adorned cape.

Elsewhere, sheer pieces were covered in cascades of crystal fringe, feathers, and beading. Breathtaking looks did not stop here, however. In what felt reminiscent of the 1980s, a scene Armani has a long history with, sharp padded shoulders, geometric print evident on a printed blazer, and the sparkling pieces that were synonymous with disco balls shone.

In an era where we seem to be throwing it back to the past - think the Y2K trend or '90s minimal that never seems to leave us, the tailoring, with pants that bordered on harmen style and tops that had Pierrot-like flounces felt ready to reintroduce the '80s to a new audience.

We say let's welcome it. Armani has created something very special here.
