Giambattista Valli Fall 2024 Couture: Italian Opulence Meets Indian Influence

Gowns, gowns, and more gowns.

Sometimes in the world of fashion, it is good to stick to what you know. Sometimes, it is also good to add refreshing takes to what you have established. The Giambattista Valli Fall 2024 Couture does both.

Big tulle dresses graced the audience with the volume consumers have come to love. The twist? An Indian influence that meets his usual vision of Italian opulence.

With this, gowns reminiscent of bouquets captivated thanks to their floating florals made up of garlands of Indian jasmine. Fabric blossomed - Valli added a veil, positioned a bustier on a floor-length dress, or used his signature style to allow fabric to cascade down from the tulle dresses Carrie Bradshaw is meant for.

He also experimented with draping to create sculptural sleeves, capes trailing off of floral print gowns, and bell-shaped puffs of fabric layered over longer hemlines. Vibrant colors adorned each piece from royal purples to shades of red to mint green.

Elsewhere, a select number of models’ faces were painted blue or lilac to represent the Hindu gods depicted with blue skin. Others had gowns that swooped into sheer hoods while another wore a lime-green dress that was made of floating marabou feathers.

However, of the 33 pieces, the standout was a sunflower yellow tulle option. It was so big and so brilliant that it struggled to fit through the narrow runway aisle.

We can’t help but wonder exactly which gowns will make the red carpet - if we were a stylist, it would be hard to choose.
